Here’s an update on what’s happening in each group:

The Education Committee met Feb. 15 to plan for the Family Philanthropy webinar series kicked off by Mark Weber’s Your Philanthropic Legacy program ion Feb. 18. Additional webinars are planned in March, April and May. WIN will host a WIN Chat with a University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty member as a follow up activity to UNL’s E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues program on March 31. The WIN Chat will be on April 1. The committees continue to post learning opportunities for members and occasionally schedule WIN Chats for discussion afterwards. The is making program plans for the WIN Grant Awards Celebration in the fall. Future meeting dates are: May 17 and Aug. 16, all at 3:30 p.m. via Zoom.

The Membership Committee met in February to discuss ways to encourage members who had not yet renewed for this year to renew. A series of new and renewing member events is being planned via Zoom. The committee would like to expand its membership by seeking other WIN members interested in connecting with new and renewing members. Future 2021 meeting dates: May 10, Aug. 9, Nov. 8, all at 3:30 p.m. via Zoom.

The Grants Committee met via Zoom Aug. 25 to debrief the 2019-2020 grants cycle and make plans for the 2020-2021 cycle. The use of Zoom for site visits offered some time advantages for members participating and went well for the committee and grant seekers. The downside was the lack of personal interaction with grant seekers and other committee members and the informal time to discuss proposals with other committee members. Next year’s grant application timeline was set and will be posted on WIN’s website before Jan. 1. A subcommittee effort to contact past grant seekers and grant recipients about their experiences and the impact of their grants will be planned. Selection of the next committee chair was discussed. Meetings set for 2021: March 3, subcommittee for letters of inquiry review; May 11, full committee for proposal review; Tuesdays and Thursdays in June reserved for site visits; July 13, full committee for review of site visits.
