WIN gatherings connect dots

Membership Update

WIN finished the 2019-2020 membership year on June 30 with 179 members, down 14 from 2018-2019, but strong enough to provide $168,000 for grants.

Committee Update

As a WIN member, you can join one of WIN’s three committees anytime! Help us plan programs, review grant proposals and keep our membership engaged and growing, while learning more about WIN! Let us know at WIN@nufoundation.org if you are interested in joining a committee or have questions about the groups.

Here’s an update on what’s happening in each group:

 

Education Committee
Chair: Susan Rosenlof; Chair-elect: Meg Lauerman; Immediate Past Chair: Shannon Sands
Next meeting: Nov. 16, 3:30 p.m. (Zoom)
The Education Committee met Aug. 17 to continue plans for the 2019-2020 Grant Awards Celebration and other program opportunities. Focusing on learning and connecting opportunities, the committee decided to plan some WIN Chats following various online lectures and programs. WIN Webinars will also be planned on topics such as family philanthropy and philanthropic leadership during these months in which in-person events are not planned. Meeting dates set: Nov. 16, Feb. 15, May 17 and Aug. 16, all at 3:30 p.m.

Membership Committee
Chair: Ann Bruntz; Chair-elect: Emily Allen; Immediate Past Chairs: Kathy LeBaron and Courtney Kreifels
Next meeting: Sept. 16, 3:30 p.m. (Zoom)
The Membership Committee met in June to discuss ways to encourage members who had not yet renewed for this year to renew. The committee would like to expand its membership by seeking other WIN members interested in connecting with new and renewing members. Future meeting dates to be determined.

Grants Committee
Chair: Cassie Kohl; Chair-elect: Vanessa Denney; Immediate Past Chair: Linda Hoegemeyer
Next meeting: Sept. 16, 3:30 p.m. (Zoom)
The Grants Committee met via Zoom Aug. 25 to debrief the 2019-2020 grants cycle and make plans for the 2020-2021 cycle. The use of Zoom for site visits offered some time advantages for members participating and went well for the committee and grant seekers. The downside was the lack of personal interaction with grant seekers and other committee members and the informal time to discuss proposals with other committee members. Next year’s grant application timeline was set and will be posted on WIN’s website before Jan. 1. A subcommittee effort to contact past grant seekers and grant recipients about their experiences and the impact of their grants will be planned. Selection of the next committee chair was discussed. Meets set for 2021: March 3, subcommittee for letters of inquiry review; May 11, full committee for proposal review; Tuesdays and Thursdays in June reserved for site visits; July 13, full committee for review of site visits.
