HELP action sets fast pace for vets

Legal Aid of Nebraska’s Health Education and Law Project (HELP) has met about 73% of its goal since receiving a WIN grant by assisting 122 veterans with legal documents such as wills and advanced directives and other legal activity related to family , health and housing issues.

The project was awarded an $84,000 WIN grant in October 2020, which is to be used by Dec. 31. Since receiving the funds, Legal Aid has assisted 122 veteran households with 146 legal issues. Those actions have the potential to impact nearly 200 adults and children in those households.

The group has closed 117 cases so far, and is looking to exceed its initial goal of 125 closed cases soon.
