Founding member gives back to Women Investing in Nebraska

Philanthropist Carey Hamilton is eager to shine a light on Women Investing in Nebraska (WIN). She has seen firsthand its positive impact on the University of Nebraska and the state, and believes more women would get involved if they knew about WIN’s philanthropic mission.

So, Hamilton, a founding member and former chair of WIN, decided to sponsor memberships for 11 women from five Nebraska organizations.

“WIN has been important to me since it began in 2011,” said Hamilton, who lives in Omaha and Grand Island. “It’s a wonderful way for women to connect and work together to make a difference for Nebraska. Great things are happening around the state and at the University of Nebraska because of WIN.”

Hamilton is a 1978 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She and her husband, Brian, serve as volunteer chairs for the University of Nebraska at Kearney as part of Only in Nebraska: A Campaign for Our University’s Future. The couple are also University of Nebraska Foundation Trustees, and both previously served on the foundation’s board of directors.

She said she hopes to inspire others to sponsor a WIN member, either someone they know or a deserving individual they haven’t met yet. Corporate sponsorships also are available. To learn more, contact WIN Director Morgan Holen at 402-458-1254 or 800-432-3216.

The sponsored WIN members were introduced at the organization’s annual grant award celebration on Oct. 7. They are Brenda Paiz, Brooke Gau and Bekah Sporhase of FNBO, Pam Deloske and Suzanne Brodine of Olsson, Paula Renner and Angela Ullman of HDR, Kasey Stover and Elizabeth Cain of Hudl, Jennie Hudnall from Bridges Trust and Laura Anzalone from Borsheims.

WIN has experienced tremendous growth over the past 13 years, growing from 20 members in 2011 to 302 members this year. Hamilton said she wants to connect with even more women in Nebraska and beyond who care about philanthropy.

“I feel that many people don’t know about WIN and the power of our collective philanthropy,” she said. “I invite more women to join us.”
