Members Drive WIN’s Work

WIN’s three standing committees offer new members a great way to learn more about WIN and its work and are also a great way to get to know other WIN members.

Committees focus on WIN’s educational, social, recruiting and grants-related activities. Any WIN member is eligible to participate in one or more committees. All committee meetings are offered via Zoom, enabling members from across the state and in areas outside Nebraska to fully participate in these plans.

I chose to get involved with the Grants Committee to learn more about the process. Along the way, I have learned so much about our state and the amazing nonprofit and university projects taking place.

Education Committee

2025-2026 Chair: Lisa Smith and Karen Linder

  • Organize events to promote awareness and understanding of the Nebraska nonprofit community and university projects
  • Identify and recruit keynote speaker for annual WIN Grant Awards Celebration
  • Promote skill-building and informational programming related to philanthropy and collective giving
  • Research and disseminate information on lectures and special educational events sponsored by other groups on WIN-related topics

Grants Committee

2025-2026 Chair: Halley Kruse

  • Help inform nonprofits and university entities about WIN’s grant program
  • Accept and review letters of inquiry from nonprofits and university entities
  • Invite selected applicants to submit full proposals
  • Review proposals and select projects advancing to site visits in July
  • Determine project finalists to be included on ballot for members and assist with informing members about the projects
  • Evaluate and improve the grants process after each grant cycle
  • Audit impact reports from past grant recipients

Membership Committee

2025-2026 Chair: Jill Davis                    

  • Promote WIN through social gatherings and networking opportunities
  • Plan new member recruitment events and activities throughout the year
  • Work with Education Committee to develop programs that engage and educate members and guests
  • Reach out to current members to encourage their continuing participation in WIN
